Marketplace Microsimulation Awarded 2026 Comenius EduMedia Seal of Approval

Assessing a business model’s profitability is an essential skill for budding entrepreneurs. Now, a Marketplace Microsimulation that gives students hands-on business model experience has been awarded the 2026 Comenius EduMedia Seal of Approval.
The Comenius Awards were established by the Society for Pedagogy, Information and Media. Over 150 organizations and authors submitted digital educational products for entry. Each entry was evaluated on pedagogy, content, didactic-methodology, competency orientation, and media-technological design.
The Assessing the Profitability of Your Business Model microsimulation is built on the margin-burn-volume (MBV) methodology developed by Dr. David Newton, a global entrepreneurship consultant and author of Business Models for Entrepreneurial Ventures. Newton’s materials have been used by more than 400 educators worldwide and in numerous venture forums across the United States.
The Marketplace Microsimulation combines videos and activities to teach students how to identify direct costs, pricing, fixed overhead (or burn), margin, and the volume they need to sell to break even. Students first explore these elements within a medical equipment company. They then assess the profitability of two potential startup proposals and make adjustments to improve one of the plans.
Assessing the Profitability of Your Business Model received the Comenius EduMedia Seal of Approval in the Game-Based Digital Education Media SDB category. According to Comenius Awards, the seal “stands for quality in digital education, which has been confirmed by scientifically developed evaluation criteria.
“The Comenius EduMedia Seal of Approval is an important recognition of the quality we work to bring to every Marketplace learning experience,” said Martin Klima, lead microsimulation developer at Marketplace Simulations. “We are proud that this microsimulation was recognized not only for its content, but for its overall design and educational value.”
The award-winning microsimulation can be easily added to any competitive Marketplace Live simulation or can be used as a standalone exercise. Learn more about Assessing the Profitability of Your Business Model.
