Marketplace has created a surprising level of student engagement at Austin College. We are running a course similar to the University of Tennessee's BA-353. Student teams sit in circles in the library, cafeteria, even under trees. Other people on campus recognize them, through their intense discussions, as "simulation people", and marvel at the core strength of the program.

We all took this game very seriously and really wanted to win, but we didn’t… I think that we all were Ok about this since we got the experience of taking important decisions on a fluctuating market with big competition and also to present our success to fictive investors. This task was both challenging and great fun at the same time, and I really hope that this game can be used in other courses so more students can benefit from these kinds of experiences!

I’ve been pretty surprised by the overall quality, interest, and, above all, usefulness of this serious game. I was worried that I wouldn’t get any real knowledge out of this course: well, that game proved me wrong!
