Oct. 14, 2019

11:30 a.m. - 1:15 p.m. – Introductions and Goals over Brunch

The afternoon will begin with an introduction of Marketplace® Simulations, as well as participant introductions. This is a great way to make connections with new and experienced Marketplace educators.

1:15 p.m. - 2:15 p.m. – Engage, Challenge, Inspire, Transform – Best Practices

Introduction to an entire learning ecosystem to Engage, Challenge, Inspire, Transform your students. You will be immersed into this ecosystem during your stay, hoping that it will inspire you to innovate learning in your classroom.

2:30 p.m. - 6:15 p.m. –
 Let's Play! Setting Up a Simulation

Get a feel for the simulation software that we will be using throughout the seminar. Join your teammates as we begin the game.

6:30 p.m. –  Welcome Dinner

Dinner's on us! Join the Marketplace team as we all enjoy a relaxing dinner at the Dancing Bear Lodge & Appalachian Bistro. Get acquainted with our knowledgeable sales and support team and get to know your fellow educators.

We're obviously all about fun and our night wouldn't be complete without a friendly game of volleyball on the lawn. We will also have bocce ball, croquet, horseshoes, walking trails, and bikes available. Don't forget to pack those sneakers.

7:30 a.m. – Early Birds Catch the Worm

Kick off the day with some coffee and a light breakfast! Meet with your teammates and settle in.

8:00 a.m. - 9:15 a.m. – Your Role as a Business Coach

What are the benefits of being a Business Coach? See how this role enhances the student experience as we dive into blended learning with executive briefings. We will shed some light into how this works with assessments and learning outcomes.

9:15 a.m. - 12:00 p.m. – Discussion on Pedagogy 

Go behind-the-scenes with the author of Marketplace Simulations, Dr. Ernest Cadotte, as he discusses, and you experience, the pedagogy behind the software.

12:00 p.m. – Lunch and Talk

Sit down with Dr. Cadotte and a few of our business coaches for a delightful talk over lunch. 

12:30 p.m. - 1:45 p.m. – Executive Briefing Experience

This challenging business experience encompasses everything students have learned up to the third quarter of the simulation. They present a comprehensive review of their company's decisions and results, as well as provide a detailed strategic and tactical plan going forward. By participating in this exercise, you get a sense of how awareness and understanding of applied knowledge evolves throughout the simulation game.  

1:45 p.m. - 2:45 p.m. – Getting the Most Out of The Web Instructor

Gain valuable insight on how to get the most out of the instructor interface. 

2:45 p.m. - 3:15 p.m. – One on One with Marketplace staff for Question and Answer

You'll have a chance to meet with the Marketplace staff individually for any tailored questions you have regarding Marketplace Simulations. 

3:15 p.m. - 5:45 p.m.: What's a Venture Capital Fair? Presentations and Negotiations

A key part of workshop, the Venture Capital Fair and presentations will give your team the opportunity to pause, reflect, and plan the future of your simulated company. You will pitch the plan to outside investors and negotiate an investment in your business. If adopted by you in some form, your own students will gain critical experience in seeking approval and funding for their own plans in the future.

5:45 p.m. - 6:15 p.m. – Best Pedagogical Practices with Marketplace

With the variety of educational technology to choose from, it's easy to lose sight of the pedagogical aspect of implementing technology in the classroom. Dr. Cadotte will share the pedagogy behind Marketplace as well as course design suggestions and Assurance of Learning considerations.

6:15 p.m. – Dinner and Relaxation

Enjoy another delicious meal prepared by Dancing Bear’s executive chef. After dinner, you can kick back and relax or take the opportunity to further pick the collective brain of the Marketplace staff. For the adventuresome, we will take an easy hike in the Smokey Mountains along one of its many beautiful streams.

7:30 a.m. – Start off your Last Day on the Right Foot

Complimentary continental Breakfast provided by the Dancing Bear Lodge.

7:45 a.m. - 12:00 p.m. – Continuation of Venture Capital Fair Presentations 

12:00 p.m. – Lunch and Talk

Mingle with your fellow teammates and educators while enjoying lunch. Ask questions, share stories, thoughts, and ideas with the staff.

12:30 p.m. - 3:30 p.m. – Improving Teamwork and Individual Performance based on Balanced Scorecards

Discuss ways of improving individual and teammate performance in all functional areas of business based on the cumulative balanced scorecard. Learn how business acumen is evaluated using Marketplace's customized rubrics.

 3:30 p.m. - 3:45 p.m. – Final Workshop Reflection and Presentation of Certification Awards

4:00 p.m. – Conclusion of Train-the-Trainer Workshop
