Experiencing Marketing at the Marketplace

The Experiencing Marketing at the Marketplace business simulation allows your students to develop and execute a complete marketing strategy, including brand design, pricing, ad copy design, media placement, distribution, and sales force management. Students receive information on customer needs and wants, plus feedback on customer satisfaction with brands, prices and advertising. They also obtain information on competitive tactics, brand profitability and firm profitability, all of which can help them to skillfully adjust their marketing strategy. Students can play against computer-generated competitors or classmates. The web based exercise challenges students to make tough marketing-based decisions in a competitive, fast-paced market where the customers are demanding and the competition is working hard to increase market share. Students spend 3.5 to 5 hours to complete the entire 6-period exercise. They are graded using a balanced scorecard that measures profitability, customer satisfaction and market share in targeted segments.
