The 29th Marketplace Global Competition - September 2009

Looking for some additional excitement for your class? Think about joining the next Marketplace Global Competition. With a mixture of college teams from around the world, the participants gain insight into the ways of thinking and business strategies of other cultures. And, it is just more fun to compete on an international scale.

The 29th Marketplace Global Competition will start on September 30, 2009.

Registration: begins Wednesday, August 5, 2009; ends on Wednesday, September 16, 2009.
(Sign up instructions will be sent out and games will be activated the evening of September 30, 2009).

Duration: 10 weeks

Where: Over the Internet

Past Participants: In the past, the Global Competitions have included teams from Argentina, Australia, Brazil, Canada, China, Czech Republic, Finland, France, Germany, Great Britain, Hong Kong, Hungary, India, Italy, Netherlands, New Zealand, Peru, Poland, Kingdom of Tonga, Russia, Slovakia, Spain, Taiwan, Turkey, and the United States.

Who can participate: Business school students are welcome to participate. Any number of teams can participate from the same institution.

Cost: $50 per student. (Universities in parts of Asia, South America, Africa and Eastern Europe may be eligible for additional discount.)

Schedule:

• Sign up instructions will be sent out and games will be activated the evening of September 30, 2009 Eastern Time (New York Time).
• Quarter 1: Due Wednesday, October 7 at 1:00 PM Eastern Time.
• Quarter 2: Due Wednesday, October 14 at 1:00 PM Eastern Time.
• Quarter 3: Due Wednesday, October 21 at 1:00 PM Eastern Time.
• Quarter 4: Due Wednesday, October 28 at 1:00 PM Eastern Time.
• 1 Week Break to develop Business Plan (Optional - See Instructor)
• Quarter 5: Due Wednesday, November 11 at 1:00 PM Eastern Time.
• Quarter 6: Due Wednesday, November 18 at 1:00 PM Eastern Time.
• Quarter 7: Due Wednesday, November 25 at 1:00 PM Eastern Time.
• Quarter 8: Due Wednesday, December 2 at 1:00 PM Eastern Time.
• Announcement of winners: the evening of Wednesday, December 9, 2009

Instructors please note that although the students cannot sign up for the game until September 30, 2009, all players are expected to have purchased their licenses BEFORE September 30, 2009. On that date, they will be able to sign up and begin playing the simulation.
