Preparing Our Services For the Future

When we started in 2000, we had one small server which provided Web Marketplace to our customers. Over the years, our business has grown and we have been busy adding servers. Now we have 8 servers at our web hosting company:

• Two database servers working together in data replication,
• Three web servers where our customers go every day to access the Web Marketplace,
• A server that hosts our marketing web site and all its sister web sites in the Chinese, Dutch, French, Polish and Portuguese languages,
• A primary domain name server, and lastly,
• One server (the smallest of them all) that is used entirely for development.

Of course, there is a need to monitor these servers so that we know what is happening with each of them. To that end, we have upgraded our entire service monitoring and emergency management systems.

To cope with the increased number of telephone calls and more support staff, we have upgraded our phone system within the last year. This enables us to handle the increased number of customers with ease.

By the end of June 2007, we will have another round of hardware and software improvements. As you can see, we are continually working to improve the quality of our services to students and faculty alike.
