New simulation features

While summer is the time when most of our customers and the university faculty take some time off, it is one of the busiest times of the year at ILS. This is when we work hard to refine the software and implement the improvements based on the feedback we collect from you and your students during the previous year. With the updates we introduced this fall, we strove to upgrade the following areas:

Student interface

We redesigned the accounting and pro-forma statements, as well as the tactical plan screen, by adding tabs to make the data easier to read and print. We have added a handy “quick look" feature to the key decision making screens to give students speedy single-click access to the Market Research information relevant to each particular decision area. Finally, we have increased the length of the ad names, brand names and company names, so that the students now have more room for creativity.

Instructors

We have streamlined the sign-up process for the Global Competition games. We added a new icon directly in the toolbar of your Web Instructor software which gives you access to a simple online form where you can tell us how many students and teams you would like to sign up for each game level we offer. This eliminates lengthy email exchanges between the instructor and ILS, leaving less room for error for everybody. Second, you can now make schedule adjustments directly from Web Instructor for any of your active games. Just display the current schedule (e.g. by clicking the Show Schedule link in the main Web Instructor view) and click Modify whenever you need to make adjustments.

Behind the scenes

We have implemented a host of improvements behind the scenes, which make our simulation game processing engine quicker and more reliable. We have streamlined the back-end software used by our support staff so they can be even more responsive when you need our help. Finally, we have redesigned some parts of the software from the ground up to make it easier to translate Marketplace to different languages. While this change is not visible to you or your students, you can now expect even more of our games translated to different languages. For example, Web Marketplace is currently available in Chinese, Polish, Portuguese and Spanish. Please contact us to find out which game levels are currently available in each of these languages.
