Sample Games

Marketplace is introducing new ways to learn about Marketplace Simulations: sample games. Through the online sample games, you can now view 10 of the different Marketplace simulation levels without going through the game design process or requesting an evaluation game from Marketplace.

These sample games offer more interactivity than Flash demos, which can only be passively viewed. And they only take a fraction of the time an Evaluation game would, because in the Evaluation games, all decisions must be completed each quarter to proceed to the next. The sample games give you the complete game experience without the real game's time investment.

With the sample games, you can view a full-blown version of many of our simulation levels, but you don't need to make any decisions to advance through a game. Decisions have already been made in each quarter, so you can view actual results a typical team might get. You can even modify the decisions, but any changes you make will not carry over to subsequent quarters. By scanning through these sample games, you can better acquaint yourself with the all of the game-play elements of every quarter in each simulation Marketplace offers, from the basic, Introduction to Marketing, to the complex, Extended Strategic Corporate Management.

To try out a sample game, sign into the Web Instructor Site and click on the <Instructor Materials> icon in the tool bar at the top. Then, just select the game level you want to play, scroll down to the section entitled <Sample Game>, and click on <review>. This brings up the game you have chosen in the first quarter. To move to the next quarter within the sample, click on the right-arrow icon in the tool bar at the upper right of the window. Click on the left-arrow to move back. Within each quarter, all of the functions in the Task List are operable, so if you want to, say, redesign a brand, feel free to do so.

Essentially, you can find out anything you would like to know about a given simulation by accessing the sample version. Want to know if a question is covered in the Professor Help files of Extended Integrated Business Management? Just open the sample version and click on the <Professor Help> icon. The entire help file for each game is accessible through the sample. Curious what R&D components are available in quarter 6 of Venture Strategy? Go in and find out, all the features are listed in the sample. Everything you want to know about playing any Marketplace game is open to you with a few keystrokes.
