Requirement: Participants must not have prior Marketplace experience. Students who have previously participated in any Marketplace exercise may not join the competition.

Level of difficulty: Strategic Corporate Management: A comprehensive business exercise (8 decision periods or quarters), where students compete in an international electronics market set in Brazil, China, United States, Canada and Europe. The level of difficulty is expert involving in-depth treatment of marketing, manufacturing, finance, accounting, human resource decisions, and e-commerce.

Scoring: A balanced scorecard will be used to measure performance. A total score will be computed for each team based upon profitability, market share in target markets, customer satisfaction, manufacturing productivity, asset management, human resource management, investments in the future and the creation of wealth for the stockholders.

Game Scenario: The students will start up a new international electronics firm. Their firm will be responsible for introducing a new line of microcomputers into the world market. All competitors will start with exactly the same resources and knowledge of the market. The students will be responsible for marketing, manufacturing, human resources, finance and accounting. Students will have the opportunity to sell through conventional and Internet channels.
